Battenhall does the double at PRWeek UK Awards winning Specialist Agency of the Year and receiving a Highly Commended honour for Small Consultancy of the Year

Mark Stuart

Director

It was a night to remember. On Thursday evening Battenhall picked up two major honours at the communications industry’s biggest event of the year – the PRWeek UK Awards.

First came Specialist Consultancy of the Year, where we won the outright prize, with the judges noting: “Innovation at the core of its business means that this agency is constantly evolving and the benefits are paying dividends.”

A few minutes later, and we were back on stage again, with our attendees – CEO Drew Benvie, CIO Phil Sheard, Senior Account Directors Grace Gardiner and Felipe Sturgis, and Account Executive Zina Mbanefo – called up to receive a Highly Commended award for Small Consultancy of the Year.

Commenting on the wins, Battenhall CEO and founder Drew Benvie said: “These awards are so tough to be shortlisted for, let alone win. We’re all immensely honoured and proud of the accolades – especially as we were the only agency to pick up two agency of the year trophies on the night! A huge thank you to the PRWeek judges, our entire global team and all our clients, without whom this would not have been possible.”

Secret to success

We celebrated a stellar 12 months with record revenues of £9m (+14%), an 89% new business win rate and 97% retention rate.

Part of the success is down to our uniquely different 20% time initiative that enables all employees to use one in five hours for research and development. This innovation helped the team build software platforms and launch cutting edge client services that saw us win global briefs from brands such as Balmain, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Lloyds Bank and Nikon.

Our growth was also underpinned by DEI work, which saw Battenhall recruit four young people from Stormzy’s Merky FC programme that supports young Black talent to find roles in sports marketing.

Finally, our mission of social for good continues apace, too, with our social media safety non-profit, Raise, continuing to help improve social media safety for young people by delivering educational programmes in schools, deliver industry-shifting advisory, and campaigning on regulation.

Huge thanks to the entire Battenhall team for these incredible achievements – and to our clients and supporters for another great year working together.
